Tell me a
story.
You’ve gotten your dream down on the page. Now—whether you’re looking to get past traditional-publishing gatekeepers or go it alone in the exciting, cutthroat world of independent publishing—you need a fresh, professional set of eyes from a seasoned editor and storytelling coach.
With bestselling titles, indie gems, and ten years of industry experience under my belt, I know how to snare a reader’s attention and pique an agent’s interest.
I have worked with such notable and diverse authors as actress Keke Palmer, #1 New York Times bestseller Mark Sullivan, international bestseller Catherine Ryan Hyde, and famed climbers Beth Rodden and Lisa Thompson. Clients include Penguin Random House and Amazon Publishing.
Formerly the editor in chief of a high-volume publishing-services company, I have personally edited or supervised the editorial process of over 1,000 book projects, guiding both debut and established authors into print. With a background in writing and literature and ten years in the industry, I bring a writer’s mindset to the cutting room to balance polishing prose with exploring craft and form.
A good editor is a magpie, picking up knowledge with every book.
(We make great trivia partners, too!) Having worked on over 1,000 titles, both bestsellers and indie gems, I’ve learned something from each project—and I bring that full canon of experience to the table. As an avid reader with a background in writing, literature, teaching, and publishing, I have spent over a decade approaching language through different lenses. With experience in all genres, as well as in ghostwriting and indexing, I specialize in fiction, memoir, and narrative nonfiction—but I believe that voice transcends genre, and I welcome viewpoints that give me a fresh look at fields outside this scope.
I hold a BA in English from Lewis & Clark College and an MFA in creative writing from the University of Memphis, where I taught fiction writing and undergraduate English and received the top fellowships and awards. When I’m not reading manuscripts at home on the Oregon coast, I enjoy kayaking, rafting, and hiking throughout the West—you’ll know me on the river by the Chicago Manual of Style sticker on my water bottle.
